I recently purchased a 1980 Mustang hatchback as a parts car. I decoded the VIN number on this site and found out that it is a Mach 1. I wanna find out if Mach 1 is a package or if it just means that it is a hatchback. I am also curious how many of these cars were built.

There was no Mach I model from '79-'01.

For the '80 model year, there were two models:

Ghia

Ghia was the deluxe model.

(There was also a 'Cobra package' but it was not a model.)
