I bought a Saleen body kit and now the paint shop is telling me it is going to take 11 hours to prep it. It's urethane and I know it needs some prep, but 11 hours!!!
I know other have done kits, how much prep did yours need? I gotta decided if I getting corn holed, or if this is legit.
Thanks...

Some of these kits do not fit very well and could take some time to prep. The shop is probably going by that. Ask them if they are going to charge you the full 11hrs if it only takes them 6hrs. In other words only charge you for actual time spent.

It's probably legit, my Saleen kit was a huge pain. I paid BIG$ in labor just to get it straight.
I think Saleens molds must be getting worn out, that's why they have such a great price now. I would warn anyone that wants them, Just because they came from Saleen, doesn't make them good.
yeah....some kits dont work as well as others...my friend has an 04 nissan SE-R...and some lady plowed into him (this was in December) so he took full advantage of it, and bought himself a nice Skyline bodykit for it....and guess what, the whole car is done except for the front bumper...this has been over TWO MONTHS and he still hasnt gotten his car back...they say they are haveing trouble w/ the flush line up w/ the car....TWO MONTHS!! lol ---- thats some hella money right there!
I bought a saleen kit 2 years ago and my bodyshop man told me to return it because the prep would cost more than the kit did and that's before painting. I really like the Saleen look. I decided then to get the Cervinis Stalker kit and he said it was as good or better than OEM equipment.

Yeah, that seems like a long time for prepping on a molded kit. If it were fiberglass I could understang. Mine (although it is Cervinis) was a perfect fit. You could always check with the manufacturer to see what they recommend prep time should be.
This kit ended up being a joke. I* may be eating the $800, I am working on a refund now, but who knows...EBAY...the kit was new and the seller sells tons of them, but I seem to have gotten a total lemon. I OK'd the 11 hrs of prep, I could see why it was so bad. But then the body shopped called and said I shouldn't even bother , this kit just will NOT fit, no way, no how...I shoudl have went the extra mile and bought the Cervinis Stalker kit.
If anyone is thinking about buying a kit off Ebay, contact me & consider what I am going through. I didn't save $600, I lost $800!!!
