Safety has always been a debate with wheel spaces.
I have run them on all my cars over the last 10 years including my Mustang. In fact there are two cars here in Australia that run wheel spacers from the factory.
The main thing to watch with spacers is that you have good quality wheel studs. I always use APR high tensile wheel studs and good quality wheel spaces made to fit the hub and stud pattern. There should be no movement in the wheel spacer on the studs just like there is no movement of your wheel once it is on the studs !
Spend a few more dollars and do it properly and I think you will agree they are a safe modification.
