Default Supercoupe M-90 on a 302

I am planning on installing a blower off a thunderbird ( i own both a 89 SC and a 90 5.0l) and was wondering if anyone has done this swap, or knows of anyone that has. I am looking for a bracket to relocate the alternator to where the pollution pump is, i have a few questions;

Does Ford make a 302 with the alternator mounted on the bottom of the block?

or is there a bracket for the charger that will relocate the alternator?
What type of bracket is included in the powerdyne, paxton etc...bolt on kits?

Haven't done it but i had the same plan.

The best way was to make a custom ALT bracket (smog pump location), easy to do with Aluminum.

The trickiest is the SC mount since it has to be properly aligned and strong to avoid belt slip or loss.

I have seen some other setups that mount the SC over a stock or GT40 manifold and use a custom made upper.

wouldnt you have to make a custom intake in oder to bolt on that charger?(since the super coupe was a v-6) couldnt you make a setup to put it on the engine like the BBK Instacharger(have any of you seen these before, they dont make them anymore, but i thought they were very ingenious. it would allow for some monster torque by using the screw type design of the charger and still forcing the air through the long runner intakes of the 5.0....i really want one!!)?

A few pipe bends are all thats needed if you mount at the ALT location, one to the intake the other to MAF/Filter.

The only downside of this setup is that the SC could get pretty hot because of the headers. Some insulation might help.

I already have a bracket that will bolt up to where the alternator is, i got it off some guy who installed a SC blower on his stang, only he is a knob and lives like 2 hours away, and none of my buddies or me want to talk to him....
i have everything i need pretty much, i just need to relocate the alternator and then i can test fit it all on....

The bracket i have sets the charger up above the heads almost, on a bit of an angle, the guy running it before had no problems, and the car was pretty quick...
i might get some wrap tho just to make sure

fvpnt0pony92 > no you don;t have to make a costom intake, all you have to do is make sure you have a good sealed inlet and outlet pipes, i am going to modify the existing SC inlet, and make the required changes

i am still waiting on a brakcet tho, cause the alternator is where i'm stalled at now, i mailed a few companies...even if i could get a pic of what they use

Try a hardware store that sells thick aluminum pieces, create a mockup using wood and then make your own ALT bracket.

Alum is easy to work on with common tools: drill, dremel, hand saw, elec saw, etc.

It is an Eaton blower...an eaton M-90.
you will need a blower,
-have to relocate the alternator, make a custom blower bracket
-i took off my pollution pump, i dunno if u can do that where you're from
-Then custom piping will need to be made, i am going to try and use some of the SC stuff, and add onto it, you need an inlet and outlet
-A blow-off is needed, i am buying an aftermarket one
-anyways, i don;t know about belt length yet, or what size of pulley to use, but i'm not too worried i have tonnes of parts around home, and my buddy runs a performance shop
-a different air intake set up, i was going to use a K&N cone type filter and make kinda a CAI, but u still have to hook up your MASS air sensor, so i will work around that
that's about all i can think of right now man....i'll let u know when it's done

What i've started on so far, i grabbed a bare block and head from my buddy and an just piecing it all together to test fit it and then check for alignment
i emailed a place about a bracket and they said $30 US, so i am prob just going to buy that, i'll let u guys know if it works

wow, i didnt think it would be that easy.... i may be doing this in the near future.

i kinda assumed you would have to make your own inlet, but that really wouldnt be hard at all, now as for the outlet going into the lower intake, are you using the stock 5.0 lower? what does the outlet of the blower look like?

i will be able to take off the air pump, i have it diconnected and the belt isnt on it right now so that wouldnt be a problem. im really curious to see if that bracket will work for you. does the snout of the blower interfer with the distributor?

thanks for the info!

no, the blower is going to be mounted on the side, i am mounting the bracket on the head
i am not going to be using the stock air intake, i might make some rama ir set-up as it will free up alot of room, and the mass air sensor has to be re mounted as the blower is in the way now

I have no clue how much trouble the piping will be...i am assuming for the worst, but i'm sure it won;t be all that bad
