Default smoke headlight covers illegal?

just looked into purchasing smoke headlight covers for me 87 mustang lx. the lady said that they are for show only and are illegal in many places. however, i see them being used all of the time. i wonder if they are illegal because they arent good for use at night? they look really cool and i dont want to get the clear or blackout ones. anybody have experience with smoke headlight covers and using them at night?

not much of a problem for me during the summer living in the land o the midnight sun and all!!

cheerz

They are illegal here, and pretty much everywhere else in Canada.
We don't have 24 hr daylight like you guys do though . , so check the Traffic Act for the Yukon

They should be illegal anywhere in the U.S.

I mean during the day they are not illegal unless it's raining and you should heave your headlights on. But at night who is gonna tell you have them on? I had my headlight covers on for 4 months or so before i got my smoked headlights.
