Question ASAP- Need to replace Intake on 98 GT, can I do this myself? Ford wants $1,100.

Hey guys..
Turns out the Ford dealership said my Intake is leaking and this is where I'm losing my coolant. They said it needs to be replaced. They want $1,100 to do the job.
Is this something I can do myself?
98 GT...
Let me know ASAP...
Thanks,
CMH

Depends on your skill level. If you have a shop book get it out and study everything about the job.If you feel comfortable then have at it,and while you have the new part inyour hands, you can polish the inside of the runners.Just clean the surfaces down to a smooth even texture and match the ports to their respective runners,(called gasket matching)Happy motoring.

It would be nice if Ford would give you a break, at least cover the parts or something. After all they are the ones that chose plastic for an intake. I'd go with a Fox Lake or Reichart before I spent that kind of money at a dealer.
