Default Converting to Mustang

Hi,

I'm about to convert from being a hardcore GM - Camaro and Corvette guy to buy my first Mustang But I need some help from you seasoned Mustang guys out there. I have two that I basically have sliced it down to, with one as my first choice. The first is a -95 5.0L automatic coupe blue with grey interior, great condition and fair price. The other is also a -95 but conv. 5 speed and tripple black, higher price but also in great condition.

Now, as I have no clue on how these cars came equipped in terms of rear end ratios etc. I would appreciate some inputs here, I have yet to travel to the city where these cars are, so I thought it would be a good idea to check around a bit first. My intentions are to do some mods to the engines and other areas needing it, however I'm not going to push it to an all out race car but some mods to exhaust, intake (considering a supercharger) but that's basically it.

Help and inputs appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

well, the cars are in Sweden but they are lowmilage, both are at the same milage but the price do differ. The coupe is much cheaper, and with the auto. Since I plan on possible get a Vortech system on I kind of would like the manual and a 3.55 - 3.73 rear, no 2.73. Did the manual ever get a 2.73? Or can I trust that it has something better?

I would consider the coupe and replace the auto with a manual, maybe a Tremec or something.

Same gear ratio's. If you don't want to make it an all out race car, go for the vert. There's not much better than riding through town with the top down. ( I'm a little biased ).

Thanks for the info and input. What type or rear do the GT have, 7.5" or? I'm leaning towards the vert, but I'm curious on how rigid they are. Coming from the Camaro and knowing the huge difference between the convertible and the solid roof ones, the flex in the conv is huge.

8.8 rear. Also there is alot more power lost in a Ford auto then there is in a GM auto.

8.8 sounds good, then it would be pretty ok to swap the 2.73 to a 3.73 or 3.55 to get it better. What is really the limit on the 8.8 in terms of hp/lbs ? What more mods are required when you swap the rear ratio on them?

if you buy a c clip elemnator it will hold about whatever you can throw at it (with new axles) replacing the bearings back there is suggestable but i didnt do it that and gear lube and your good to go.

Also being a jumper concerning gm cars vs ford cars, in my opinion the mustang holds more potental then any f-body gm. The 8.8 is like the baby brother of the ford 9". Also most bullet proof if built right, as far as gearing go with 3.55 or 3.73. Both will give you nice results, 4.10's if you like to buy gas every day. But just like the camaros and firebirds they have a lot of flex in the conv.t. But you can fix that, with kits that you can weld in or bolt in. the 94-95 5.0 does suffer from poor exhuast headers, so first I say get a nice exhuast.

For some reason I never liked the look of the 94-98 Stangs...
