Don't buy that one. In my opinion, if you're going to buy a radar, get the best. I recommend Valentine 1. It's rated as the #1 radar out there. I just moved to Charlotte N.C. last week and this thing has saved my hide so many times. Of course no radar is 100% but this one is damn close. It picks up on X, Ka, K and Laser very well. It'll tell you where they're located. Everytime that it goes off, sure enough, there's the smokey. You have to order it straight from the factory and it costs, $399.00.
Dude, it'll save your butt!!!!

I have an Escort Solo 2, it works great and it's cordless. If I buy another though it will be the Valintine. He created the Escorts and then left the company to start his own.

I've said this already but don't waste your money on anything but Valentine 1. I just moved down to Charlotte last week and let me tell you, the cops down here do not play. As I was moving here, I got pulled over. Check this out, I was on 85 South doing about 75 when the Valentine 1 went off. This thing is great because it'll pick up the strength of the Radar. That way you can decide when to slow down. Sure enough, there was a Smokey on the left side of the road. I started laughing because it was so on point. Anyway, he pulled me over anyway. He ran my license and registration. When I asked him why, he said that my car swerved as I past him. I recently bought a navagational system and I was inputing information into it. Personally, I think he was full of crap but whatever. He gave me what's known as a Warning Ticket. It means nothing, doesn't go on your record and you don't pay a fine. It's used to justify them pulling you over. Personally, I believe that he saw a young guy driving a performance red Mustang wanted to break balls. The point is, since I've had the Valentine, it has saved my ass on mumerous occassions. Down here in Charlotte, cops always use radar and unless they don't have it on (which is something that they do as well; therefore, you can't always depend on radar dectors), the Valentine 1, can save you.
Good Luck!

Ok... I don't want to start any psssing contest but why are all you guys so sold on the Valentine?? Here are some sites that report performance tests. They all say basically the same thing. Bel, Escort and Valentine are the top of the heap but..... Valentine cost $100 bucks more than the others without offering any better performance. So what's so good about Valentine that makes it worth the extra $100?

Radar detectors are so easily defeated. I wouldn't waste money on the high end ones. I have a middle-of-the-road Bell. It may not be as sensitive, but that can be (and should be) coupled with smart driving.

I drive between two cities in Texas on weekends. 280 miles each way. Been doing this for 3+ years. I'd go 90-95 all the time and never get busted. Know when to speed. One afternoon, I was going 79 in a 60 as I approached the top of the hill. I knew it was a bad situation. It was a classic speed trap. As soon as I got over the crest, BAM! A cop zaps me and I was busted. It wouldn't matter what detector I had. I lost at the strategy game.

Again, don't waste your money on the high-end ones. Invest more time in knowing when to speed.

Well like I said before, I have a Escort and before this I had a Whistler. They both picked up cops radar and warned me but the whistler didn't even come close to how far aay my escort picks them up and with the Whislter, it goes off all the freaking time picking up false readings. This is one thing that the higher end detectors do, they filter alot of the garbage, when my escort goes off, my foot lifts because smokey is close.

You sure it wasn't because you were driving below the Mason/Dixon line with New York plates??
