Today one of my neighbors gave me a 68-69 302 block and some heads that he says had a 3 angle valve job done to them when they used to be in his car. I was wondering, what is a 3 angle valve job and what does it do to perform different and does this give more hp?
Thanks
Sneado

Just try to act cool, like you can even relate, Looking up at the taillights as they get smaller, The driver backs off just to give me a holler, "You can't win them all," he says in fling, "You may not win any, in that silly thing," I smiled and revved as he pulled out of sight, With my new mods tomorrow…it will be a better night.
But the third angle wears down faster than the other 2 so after so many miles , your back to a standard valve . Not really worth the money unless it's a race engine imho

About how much more hp does the 3 angle job get over stock?

The only part of the seat that the valve touches is the 45º cut, which is on ALL seats, whether there is one angle or there are three, five, six, eight, etc. angles.
I've done 2 sets of heads with a 3 angle valve job , and it seems to me that the third cut is always worn down after I have taken the heads back apart . Maybe it's just my imagination , but I wont spend the extra money on it again . jmo
