I don't know, I'm thinking that it has something to do with the interlock.
I've never had a
Stang with an automatic, so I don't know exactly what
all makes up that system. You might try removing your steering column
covers and seeing if anything looks amiss in there. I've never had a
SN95 either, so I don't know how to get those covers off. But it pro-
bably doesn't take anything more than a philips screwdriver. So, remove
the covers and try turning the key and moving the gearshift, and see
what happens in the mess of wires and rods that make up the column
assembly. My guess is that the problem is in there, what with the turn
signals malfunctioning too. Maybe a harness came unplugged from the
turn signal switch (somehow) and is interfering with the interlock mech-
anism. Also check the hazard switch, I put a heater core in my 92, and
when I got it all back together, I had no turn signals. Turns out that a
couple of wires had pulled out of the hazard switch plug, and I believe
that's where the turn signal switch gets its power (for the turn signals
at least).
