Default LOUD exhaust...

I really love being able to rev your engine and get a satisfying, well hell, I love it when you give a car gas and the thing screams. I'm considering upgrading the exhaust on my Mustang but I have one concern. The extra noise really increases your chances of getting a ticket. And it also makes people think you are going faster than you think. Do you think I should still upgrade it?

Tickets and modifying cars go hand in hand. Always has been, always will be. Do you really want to go through life regretting that you never really lived?

Unless you run across a ***** cop. Most will just say, "Nice car, now move along." When I didn't have a cat-back system on, I only got looks. Never got a ticket for anything.

Ya, well my car is so loud that a cop was about to give me a ticket for jumping on it yesterday. He told me it was "exhibition of speed." I told him that I didn't think you could get in trouble for jumping on it. I think he was just on a power trip. I mean I didn't even go over the speed limit.

You can get exibition of speed and excessive display of acceleration. both are judgement calls by the cops. check your state laws, but in some states, you can pay double the fine and get it bumped down to a non-moving violation so as to keep it off your insurance. I've had a dumped flowmaster catback 2 chamber system for a while now and have never gotten any sh!t for being noisy. Go for the exhaust. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone with a whole bassani system rather than buying a set of shorties one month, x pipe the next month and so on. Bassani makes quality stuff.

If you're always on the gas you will get a ticket sooner or later. Drive civilized and the cops will leave you alone. I have 3" exhaust into 3 chamber Flowmasters w/dumps and have never been stopped.

My car is pretty loud and after the install of the x pipe i was afraid to give it any gas in fear of getting pulled over. Now i am used to it and i just lay off the gas when i see the fuzz, but i am one of like 200 mustangs in my town with offroad exhaust. I was really afraid at first but i think they would pull over an obnoxious ricer with underglow neons under the car then a nice sounding stang.

I had the same thoughts, but installed an SLP cat back anyway. Most cat backs are not as loud as straigh pipes on Harleys, so unless the cop is a noise pollution addict you should not have any problems. Just the other day I was driving through a speed trap (let off the gas, sure, it gives off a nasty snap crackle pop) I had to stop anyway since I was approaching a red light. Along comes a modified Honda Prelude , the driver was probably more interested in catching up to me than looking at the surroundings because he really got the Officers attention. He also got the ticket too. They don't paint those white lines across the road for nothing. Always know the road, where they sit, and if you are not paying attention dirve the speed limit. My exhaust is loud, but I never had any problems with getting pulled over. I have been followed on several occasions, but so far not pulled over.
