Question Swapping Engines-Need advice Please

I have cracked the head on my 1987 2.3 liter manual transmission. In the past three months that I have owned the car I have put over $3000 into it and driven it a total of 2 weeks. I found a new head w/ valves and everything for $370 and adding the gasket kit, bolts and a new timing belt I am looking at another $500. I have a friend who will do the work for me at a low cost and he has found a 5.0 enging with around 90k on it that he will be pulling from a van. He is willing to install the engine for a total of $250. He seems to think that all we will have to do is move the motor mounts and the trans will line up, but I've got others telling me that I will have to redo the wiring and there will be a lot more incidentals including a different rear end. Is this true? What am I better off doing? I really like the idea of haveing a 5.0, it's something I'va always wanted, and if I do it I plan on overhauling the exterior and interior (I already have sunk in more $$$ than it's worth) What is your advice. Keep in mind I am not a tech, so if you can post as simplified as possible, otherwise I can get my friend to translate tech jargin. Thank you in advance for your help.

Matt Mitchell

You'll need the engine and wiring harness from the van . you'll also neet the fuel rails pressure regulator and a new fuel pump . motor mounts . if you do a search on here , you'll find alot of posts about the 4 to 5.0 swap . it has been gone over many times . I think there's even a sticky thread in 5.0 tech .
