Default Blowin Smoke

I was hoping I could get some advice on what might be the problem with my 68 mustang with a 289 2v. While driving my stang I noticed some smoke behind the car. I thought it was a white color but had difficulties telling since I only noticed it at night when I had headlights behind me. Initially I thought that the car was just cold, but it was the summer time when the temp was still around 60 and I would still notice it after driving for awhile. I initially thought it was a head gasket but I was not losing any coolant and I did not notice any water on the dipstick. The distributor does need to be replaced on the car, but would that cause smoke to come out of the exhaust? If any of you have any ideas to solving my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all,
Kev

is the trany a stick or auto?? need more info. if it is a auto the motor could be sucking tranty fluid due to a
bad vacume modulator.

the car is an automatic. But I haven't noticed a loss in tranny fluid either.
