Unhappy '01 sometimes starts/sometimes won't

Hi all,
I have a '01 GT thats never given me a problem until this past month.
Drove it to work a few weeks ago and eight hours later it wouldn't start. Checked in the trunk and the fuel pump shutoff/inertia switch was popped up, so I reset it and it still wouldn't start. I went back a couple of hours later and it started right up.

It sat in my garage for a couple of days and when I went to start it, once again the engine cranks but it wouldn't start. Five minutes later- starts right up. (Inertia switch didn't pop up this time)

Drove it for the next week every day without a problem, and then today same thing happens and I had to walk home from work again. (Went back 4 hours later and still no luck)

Could this possibly be the fuel pump even though sometimes it does start? Once it starts it drives great like nothing is wrong...

On a side note- related or not I don't know.. car was stored all winter until mid-May and was only driven 2 or 3 times before these problems started.

Thanks a ton for any help/advice you can offer!

Might be that the inertia switch is bad...happens.

Do you hear the fuel pump when this happens?

Angry

Update: Had to have my car towed to the dealer from the parking lot at my work. Ended up having to get the fuel pump replaced.
I ended up having to pay $655.00 since my car with only 16,284 miles on it, is 2 months over the warranty period.

I have a '95 mustang and my car was doing the exact same thing as far as trying to crank and would not. I did not have to have it towed but it did take like two or three times to start. That was a pain. And my mechanic found the problem and I can not wait to get my car back next week. Coop.
