Default Simple question about Cylinder Heads

I'm not a car buff, but exactly how hard would it be to replace Cylinder Heads? assuming I bought the appropriate part.

or should I wait till I have the money to completely redo the engine?

Depends how many tools you have. You will need a torque wrench (most importantly) or you will not do the job correctly. You will also need a spring compressor if the heads that you get do not come will valve assemblies, but they should. You will need the spring compressor to put the new valve springs in or to swap the old ones into the head, which I would not do.
The job really is not that difficult. I have done it on Ford V-8's and 4 cylinders and they are all basically the same. Take off the intake and exhaust manifolds. As long as you have some patience, you will be alright.

The hardest part is dissamsembling all of the little things like vacuum lines and the EGR equipment off of the intake manifold. Little nit-picky things like that are what make a headswap time consuming.

I always found that scraping the head gasket off is a PITA.
