Is it possible to say put a Ford 5.0 342 Stroker Long Block into a 1996 gt without any frame or body work? I know i would need a new computer im thinking one out of a 95 would work? Will it fit to a tremic tko trany? And is this legal? this 4.6 stuff isnt working for me no more in the words of tim allen "MORE POWER!!!!" any info would be super.
uh...youll need more than the computer. itll require a totally different harness. youll have to use the 94-95 harness.
you wont need any frame work because stroking a motor doesnt change the external deminsions of it. so since the 94-95 had 5.0 blocks in them then a 96 would work. a 5.0 block will fit to a tremmec tranny, just becasue its a stroker doesnt change anything about what transmissions will hook up. now i dont know how legal this is.....ive always wondered about this. i dont know what the insurance company would say. somebody else will have to help you here.

if i was you i would get the money it would take for an engine swap and get a supercharger.
by the time your done (and im assuming you have the engine, tranny and comp.) you'll spend more money and probably get the same power if not less.
the 4.6 is a better engine anyway
and the "long block" thing doesnt mean the block is actually longer, its just what they call it when an engine has all the internals, cam, heads, and sometimes an intake. they call it a short block when it is just the internals without the heads and intake on.

why is it not legal? what about all the people who do 4cylinder to v-8 swaps? are those also illegal?

In emission controlled states it is illegal to install a older motor into a newer car. So the pre 96 motor would be illegal in the 96 GT.
However, the v8 swap would be legal if all emission controls were retained and it passed smog.
thats what i thought. but what about when peole do the 4cylinder to v-8 swap? what if they put an 89 5.0 in a 93 4cylinder car? and what if SHIFT-101 retained all the smog equipment when he put the 342 in his 96? wouldnt that be fine from what you said?

but a 5.0 did not come in a 96...he can only legally swap in a 4.6
oh ok. that makes sence. now what do the insurance companies do when you swap in a 5.0 in a car that was once a 4 popper?

See now i know insurance wouldnt go with this thats gona be my little secre (lets hope i dont ever wreck it)... haha and no I have no emission test in Bridgeport WV. And to whoever said super charge it, no thats not a good idea for me cuz when I said I want power i mean spine ripping holy ballzy boogie car batman power. I also plan on a twin t-4 tdc turbo kit (somthing i dont think my teched out 4.6 would like too much) . that makes any supercharger look like a hair dryer duct taped to the airbox.haha

i just assumed you were an average mustang owner, the ones i know(myself included) can barely make the payments let alone buy a 342 crate engine($3000+??) AND twin turbo ($$$$??)
