Default Please help with some engine swap questions

I just bought my first mustang after being in love with the cars for 13 years. I first liked them since i was 5 im 18 now and finally can afford a stang. But of course i have to settle with the '04 v6. I just could not afford the gt and the cobra was way out of my range. So i figured i would try to pull one over on the insurance company and drop a v8 into my new lil stang. I have a buddy with i believe a late eighties or early nineties 5.0 i was just wonderin if i could swap that with my v6 and if so how hard would it be. Also i have a automatic. I figured once i get done workin on it that a auto would give me better. more acurate ET times. was i right in the auto or should i convert over to a manual. Thanx alot any info will be well appreciated.

You dont mention what year is the V6. You will need to change the PCM (EEC), fuel pump..and a miriad of things to make a V8 Swap, will be better to start with a totalled car as a donor and then swap everything to yours.

As far as performance of T5 vs Auto, for a street car the T5 is more fun, the AOD (or AODE) has to be upgraded a bit to performe like a manual trans, at least a valvebody recal kit and a better stall converter. That with the proper rear end gears.
