Default distributer fumes?

ive been having a "pop" noise in my car when it is cold out. i turn the key to on and just before it goes to the start it pops. what it is doing is blowing my plug wires off of the dist cap. the only thing i could think of was the vacuum advance hose was some how transporting fumes from the carb into the distributer. and when the key goes to on and supplys power to the dist . it ignites the fumes and blows off the plug wires. sound about right or no? what do you think?

I read your post, and had heard of this happening but for the life of me could not think of a reasonable cause.

Fuel leaking out of a vacuum line is the start of other problems.

I would probably rebuild the carb if it's leaking fuel .

i have a two barrel that i will be putting on the car soon. working on the floors right now. i have the duraspark 1 with msd 6a blaster 2 coil a 8mm accel wires. i disconntected the vacuum advance line so that no fumes would be going into the carb. i replaced my old loadamatic dzzy. the new carb should be on soon. thanks
