c4 transmission question.....please help (Post #1)

I have a '65 mustang w/a auto tranny that when it shifts into 2nd gear it makes the whole car shutter. It is wierd, check this out......when the car is still cold the tranny and car runs outstanding, shifts fine through all 3 gears. Once it warms up, if you take off from a stop, then you get this shutter/cut out from first to 2nd gear. Car shifts fine from 2nd into 3rd. Something else that is wierd......if you get on the gas a little harder no matter what temp the car is, it shifts fine through all gears. Shutter only happens with normal to slow speed from a stop.
A friend tells me it sounds like the bands are stretched and also says they can be tightened........is this true? He says to take it in and it should be less than 100 bucks. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Your friend is proably right, I wouldn't tighten the band because odds are it will break in the near future from being streched, Think of it like an elastic band, the more you pull it the more it stretches then breaks. I would simply replace the band or all of the bands with new kevlar bands. There not that expensive and they work great, I had them with my stage 2 shift kit in my 82 c4 and I never had a problem.
