Default Does anyone know if you can buy a DPFE sensor at a parts store ?

does anyone know if you can buy a DPFE sensor (Delta Pressure Feedback Emission) at a parts store or if it has to be put in by the dealership. If by the dealership, is $300 a rip off??? Oh, I have a 2000 Mustang. i really need some advice...
Thanks

Just a thought but you could try a car wrecker probably alot cheaper. Not always guarantee on the sensor if it works but they usually will stand behind a part they sell.
Before you buy it make sure you can return it if it does not function. Not all places do but some will for your business.
I will guess there are places you can purchase this sensor new outside of the dealership.

A car parts supplier near to where I live basically sells everything you need at VERY competative prices.

So, what is a DPFE and how do you know you need one? Do you know how to re-set the computer once you've replaced your "defective" sensor?

Not trying to be a smartie, just am dang curious.......and naive when it comes to these electronic components installed everywhere on the oldest functioning mechanical device from the last century (internal combustion engine).

Off the top of my head I cannot tell you what a DPFE sensor is but I think I had to replace on on my former MarkVIII.

The only way I have ever reset the car's computer is to unplug the battery for about 5 -10 minutes.
When I installed the K&N air filter in my Mustangs, it called for a computer reset so the computer can relearn the air flow, so I just disconnected the battery and walked away. I came back after a while, reconnected and started the car up.
