Default Please Explain Lockup Torque Converter

What is the difference between lockup & non lockup (?) torque converters? I tried a search, but I couldn't really find a clear answer. Are stock TQ conv. lockup?

Is a 2400 stall Lockup TQ conv. going to be good for my 95 GT with a new 4R70W & B&M Hammer Shifter?

yes the stock one is lock up.....you know how when your on the highway and it goes into od and then after the shift the rpms drop another few hundred rpms......thats the converter clutch locking the converter....no slip and better mpg. i love my 2600 stall lock up converter its not a race car so every bit of rpm drop on the highyway helps

Cool

A lock up TC has a hydralic or mechanical device inside the TC that cases a true mechanical connection between the two sets of turbine blades. The concept has been around on Fords since the C5 transmission. All modern cars have a lockup TC. The sole advantage is lower RPM at highway speeds.
