As far as the tranny is concerned, I swear by GM Sycromesh. It is a Synthetic blend

I have a Viper T-56 in my 91 LX. It was noisier then h@#$! until I used GM Sycromesh

I like Castrol fully synthetic engine oil. Very good product.

Castrol or Mobil1 for the engine.

T5: Dexron III ATF, or Mobil 1 synth ATF, never use GM syncromesh on the T5s !!!

With some people saying GM syncromesh, others no way. I'll just stick to regular Penzoil synthetic for engine. I'll stay with factory specs Dextron Mercon III or whatever it calls for. Stay with blue Richmond gear oil for rear. Thanks. I might try Red Line oil sythetic for engine, mostly street, some strip. ANY SUGGESTIONS HERE.??????

I use GM Sycromesh in Jesse's T-5 "Z" and I drive it 80 miles a day. I have had no troubles what so ever

I used half a quart of 5w-30 with Dexron III. I used the motor oil to thicken the Dexron III a little. Mechanic recommended that mixture.

Alright....I'm responding to an old post, but I got a little change left in my pocket and wanted to share.

One point on oil, if the differential between a multi-viscosity oil is more than 20 or 30 points, then the manufacturer has to use other substances (a polymer I think?) to bind the oils together. I use to run 5W/50 Castrol Synthetic, but learned that the differential is too high and that for this particular oil, Castrol has to use a binding agent in their formula and that the binding agent is not real good for your motor.

My vote for motor oil is a 5 or 10W/30 weighted synthetic oil from Mobil, Pennzoil or Red Line.

I use Royal Purple myself that is all my satng has had in it other than the 5w-20 from the factory. It cost a little much at 6 bucks a quart but and added 5% in HP and longer engine life is worth it.
