I'll bet your cable is on its last leg. Mine felt really wierd and made noise before it broke. Its worth a check anyways, good luck!

great ... my car being a 2000, would it be normal for that to be wearing down by now? if it is the cable, is that a lot of money to be invested to get it repaired?
