Hey fellow Stang owners I bought a v6 back in Feb. My dad wouldn't let me get a V8 because of insurance and its my first car. Recently on my way back from traffic court I was talking to my Dad and he handed me some Summit magazines. I was like what are these for, when he told me he was thinking about putting in a ford racing 5.0L into my Stang. My eyes lit up. He told me to find out what I would need to do besides the engine swap, save up some money and he will have a guy he knows do it for me in the summer. So I was just wondering What I would need besides the engine. I have see previous posts on here and so far I have see i will need a new rear end. Will i need a new tranny now or will the stock be ok. Also if I put in the new engine would I need to get my car tuned for new shift points and what not? Thanks.

You will need to replace the PCM (EEC) the wiring harness, the gauge cluster and some more stuff.
Can keep the transmission and rear end for now, both are a bit weak but will survive for a while.

You dont mention what year is your V6.

The swap wont be inexpensive, so tell your dad to find a donor car or trade the V6 for a V8

I have a 2001 V6. Why would i need a donor car. I was looking at buying a crate engine out of summit, for 3500ish. Do you think i could take the rear end and tranny out of a junked 8? Also how much do throttle bodys normally run.
