Exclamation My break lights went out and check engine turned on

my break lights turned off and my check engine dash light turned on....all my fuses are just fine and the light bulbs them selves are ok....anyone know what type of problem i ran into......Please pass on the wisdem

Did u check your boo switch? It's located on your brake pedal under the dash. B.O.O.= Brake On Off

Switch is located on a 1/2 inch pin along with master cyl. pushrod about halfway up brake pedal. My 98 GT has a red and green wire harness connector. Remove hairpin clip , pull switch and pushrod from pedal pin. U -shaped side of switch goes nearest brake pedal. Switch turns brake lamps on and off when pedal is depressed and probably has worn contacts.
