I have a 1998 Mustang GT and the airbag light is blinking a code 42. After taking it to dealerships that cannot find a problem, I have decided to try and reset the light. I located the grey plug under the glovebox but I cannot get it to short. I have used wire, paperclips... but it won't reset. Any help?
The problem might be one of the sensors or the steering wheel clockspring. This last one is the one that connects the steering wheel with the airbag, cruise control and horn. Sometimes the internal clockspring breaks up.
On my GT i first lost the horn, then the airbags and CC.
Code 42 on a 98 mustang is a left front crash sensor feed/return circuit open..check your left front crash sensor and make sure it is plugged in and if it is make sure the wiring is ok...the sensor may need to be replaced...without looking at the veh and checking it it is the best guess..

Thanks. I was trying to look for that but I wasn't sure what to look for since I am not quite the mechanic. Any ideas where it would be located or where I could find a diagram of where it would be? Thanks again.
