Default First Time Mustang Owner W/ Problems

I HAVE A 2003 GT. WE BOUGHT IT USED AND IT HAS 18K MILES ON IT. IT JUMPS AT 35-45 MPH. IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW AND THEY JUST CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT IS MY TRANSMISSION GOING IN OVERDRIVE. NOW I DON'T WORK ON CARS BUT I KNOW THAT AT 35-45 MY CAR IS NOT GOING IN OVERDRIVE, IT DOESN'T DO THAT UNTIL ABOUT 50-60. PLEASE HELP ME, MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRENTY AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

i know what you are talkin about and i think they may be hitting it right on the head.......you may want to look at getting something like a superchip tuner for your car.........you can raise or lower you shift point's so that it comes in much better...........if not, then just drive it till something actually goes wrong with the tranny......

welcome to the world of mustangs friend.............hotwheels of insanemustangs

The shift pattern on the 4R70W seems to be set up to produce the most economy, period! There's no way that it should shift into OD at 35mph, but it does. My advice is to do as I do and that is to use the button on the shift handle and disable the OD until you get up to highway speeds and then enable it with the button. When I get back into town again, I disable it. Once you've done it a few times it will become natural to you. Most auto owners do this to avoid the low shift speed problem. Also, if you're going to pass, it's a good idea to shift out of OD if you're really going to lay into it. When your speed is back to normal, enable the OD again. This avoids the trans possibly shifting into OD while under a lot of power which is not desirable for band life. Of course, you would have to be going very fast for the OD shift, but these things do happen!

Fuk it its under warranty drop tha lil sob from nuetral at like 5-6k a couple times, or while driving slip in to nuetral than pop it into first with your foot hammered down.....Then once it gets repaired and it stil shifts a 25mph do what the above says to do(and oh yah that must really suck).

Lemme get this straight...

Because it is under warranty, he should drive recklessly until he produces major problems in his only means of transporation to the point of requiring a complete transmission re-build.

Then, because there is a better way to operate the vehicle, after it is in the shop for days being rebuilt (and he's had to bum rides to and from work) he should then begin operating in a safe and sound manner?

Yeah, I think it would be better just to push the OD lockout switch. Just a whole lot easier.
