Default Ignition problems??

My car recently started running like crap . When accelerationg it backfires and is seriously down on power. I run an EEC-Tuner and thought it could have been a bad file.I removed it but no joy. I know the ignition modules went bad on earlier cars but thought the 94 and up were fixed. Is this a symptom of a bad: module, coil (I run a Crane PS91), distibutor, or injector? There are no codes in ECM and it runs all the tests fine. This is driving me nuts!

1- Check the MAF for K&N oil contamination
2- Install the stock coil.

That is what I am leaning towards. The problem is that i don't have the stock coil anymore.(dropped on floor). Are there any other coils you might suggest? MSD?
Thanks
Lou

Crane ps-91, really nice coil and looks good as well. It also uses the stock Ford plug.
