Angry Holley 4160 HELP NEEDED

Part 1:

Ok, never messed with carbs much, allways bought them new and slapped them on, small ajustment and went on my way.

Ok the sats, 302, performer manifold. The carb: Holley 4160(List 1850-3) 4bbl vacum secondaries. Problem Im having, if I plug the pcv port, engine dies, if I leave it open, it idles at 2800rpm and runs through gas big time. I just did a renw kit to the carb, gaskets, needle and seat's and power valve. Amazed, it did not leak... I did something right...
Float setting are set right, fuel just trickles out the sight holes...

What am I missing? air/fuel screws setting? Do I have to run a pcv valve with this carb? Thank you in advance

Part 2:

ok, new devolopment! hooked a pcv valve to it, I have to put it to the floor to get it to start, it seems to be dumping to much gas into it. I can take the front sight screw out and gas just barley trickles out, so Im guessing the float is set fine. Smoke to no end out the back, black and rich with gas... the only time it runs smooth is if the pcv off, but like stated above, it leans out and runs high Rpm's . venturis, gas is pouring out of them. but floats are set fine, no, or very little gas is coming out the sight level hole.

What else in the carb could cause this? Im at the point of buying a new one from summit, but would rather not throw $240 away for something I overlooked.

as for timing, I had another carb on the engine, all be it was way to big for the engine(holley 650 double pumper), it ran fine...

i just put brand new ones in... im no expert by any means, but if they were stuck open, would it not pour out the float level holes when they were open... all it does is barely trickle out. after i set the floats. please correct me if im wrong
