Default From Paint to Bare Metal

I currently own a 1996 Ford Mustang GT, white in color. I bought this car back in 1998. After the car was out of warranty, the paint on the roof peeled off to the bare metal - about the size of a fifty cent piece. A friend repainted it for me but warned me this would happen again because he believed it was a factory defect. Sure enough he was right. The right rear quarter panel has a rather large spot. I just discovered both doors are starting with the same problem. Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, how did you resolve it? I would like to keep my mustang but am afraid if I get a new paint job, it may end up doing the same thing. I also believe "Ford" should have to share some of the responsibility for repainting "the right way".

if my memory serves me right, it was a primer issue.........i wouldn't hesitate having it repainted, just have it stripped down to the metal and start with a good primer and repaint it.......should be good to go.....

I think that Ford repainted a lot of cars for this problem, some were clearly out of warranty, wouldn't hurt to call the district manager.
