help with vin numbers

We need to have a police inspection and the one vin # on the door is missing. Can any one tell me if there is a third vin # on the motor somewhere? Thanks

Are you dealing with a severely modified vehicle? For a routine trooper inspection of title vs VIN, the plate on the dash in the window should suffice.

doesn't most cars have the vin in 3 diffent locations, the door, the dash (u can see it from the ouside, and some where else can't remmber
