Info on replacing my convertible top

We are buying a 1983 convertible, top isn't bad, will make it a while at least until after paint.
I got a price quote of $1200 to replace it. Was told $200 for the top the rest is labor.
Is this true? I've never done a top but with this quote I'm thinking about trying. I've done my share of car, truck and Van work.
Any suggestions where I could get the info on the net? I haven't closed the deal yet, waiting on a clear title.

i never di a top before, but for that price i'll try it.. but you try any other places to see if it's cheaper..

The cars in Ga. right now and I wanted to get some things done before it comes up in Dec.

I'm new at this re storing cars game, now a boat that's a different story.
