My '03 Mustang is making an odd chirping noise - almost like a belt or a chain type sound - it only happens when the clutch is depressed or the car is in gear.
I have the V6 Engine with a manual transmission.
I wanted to check the transmission fluid, etc... but am unable to find any dipstick. Is this a sealed transmission? In that case, I'll need to take it to a mechanic.
I'm at 80,000 miles - I believe the transmission fluid hasn't been flushed since 50,000 or so... so its overdue anyhow.
To check the trans fluid level you have to go under the car. There will be a fill plug and a drain plug. You have to pull out the fill plug (it should have a square in it to put a 5/8 ratchet in it and I believe its on the drivers side). If fluid drips out, the level is good, if not, try to put your pinky in the hole and if you cant feel anything you will have to add fluid through that hole so you will need some type of hand pump or small piece of hose of some sort. Just fill it til the fluid slightly trickles out and its full. Hope this helps
