Help with oil, I am no longer leaking all over the place
Ok I fixed all the leaks and the car dose not seems to be burning any oil now. I want to change oil this weekend and not sure what to use. I know most of you like mobile one, but I am a little scare of it. 1 guy at work started using it from day 1 and he burn no oil with the oil one, but now the new one is burning a quart in 2000 miles he went back to mobile non-synthetic and he no longer burning oil. I was using Castrol high mileage. But now that is seems not to be burning any I like to go with a good regular or maybe synthetic and what weight. Thanks
Mark

How many miles on your car? There will be some disagreements to this next statement, but results vary. I've seen higher mileage engines leak after synthetic is installed.
I burned 1qt. of oil with regular oil in 1600 to 2200 miles. At 16K I switched to Mobil 1. I use Mobil 1 3 times and then switched to the Castrol Syntec. Both synthetics use 1 qt. every 1600 to 2200 miles. This is the first engine I've ever owned that use oil. The range of use is based on driving habbits. Lots of 5th gear equals higher mileage intervals between changes.
The reason for using the Castrol is that we have several cars that have used it for over 200K.
Md1. Have you changed the PCV valve and the screen under it??? If they are clogged they can't vent the pressure and it causes gaskets and seals to leak. Just thought I would mention this since you said you just put some new gasket on. If they are clogged they will blow the new gaskets out and you'll be leaking again. Just in case you didn't know. RAY
Castrol is the ONLY oil I will use in any of my rigs

You must get that screen out. It will also sludge up your throttle body and IAC valve if you dont. They can be a real pain to get out after so many miles. Try making a small sharp hook on the end of a knitting needle and hooking it into the screen and pulling it out. The screen will probably come all apart. Just make sure you get it all out. RAY
