Default Pros and cons between gate and ratchet shifters

Can someone explain the pros and cons of a gate and ratchet style shifters for autos. I have a C-4

basically they do the same thing.. dont let you miss a gear..
Heres what i found...

Ratchet
Moving the stick "ratchets" it to the next gear only eliminating over shifting. The stick returns to the original upright position readying it for your next shift.

Gate
The mechanism in a gate shifter utilizes a plate with stepped notches that ac as stops from gear to gear. Some gates are mechanical, some are driver controlled

So basically you'll be fine going with just a regular ratchet shifter from say B&M. With that one, you slam the gear but you have to let off pressure and then push it forward again to shift up.

In my experiences with wratchet shifters, they tend to get stuck in one gear too easily. Haven't had any problem with that using a gate shifter.
