Having them checked is always a good idea, I think. However, did you also 'search' the forums? I assume so since you mention hearing other issues with this engine. I searched on "3.8 leak" and found several good threads, including this one that you might want to take a look at:

When the engine in my F150 kept leaking oil at 26,000 miles and the head gaskets had been replaced twice (by me and the guy that owned it originally), it was either warped heads, or the engine block was cracked. They never did say which, but did replace the engine under warranty.
