Are you sure the noise is coming from the dash?

If the noise is coming from the window does it make the noise until you release the switch?

Tell me more

Default windoe problem

The relay type noise seems to come from the black box near the steering colume under the dash when i hold the switch in the down position. The window is stuck down.

It could be shorting out. The driver side window switch may need to be replaced. I would start there. I know there are a million junk yards down there to get the part from. It would be worth the ten bucks. If that doesn't work, then try the window motor.

I have what sounds to be the same problem on my '03 convertible. If I figure out where exactly the problem is I'll let you know.

I bought a multimeter the other day to check out the switch. The switch seems to be working fine.

There are no apparent fuse problems, but when I got really close, I could trace the relay click to the black box next to the fuse panel that accepts wiring from throught the car.

Any thoughts?

All I know is that my 2001 Mustang's driver side window shakes, rattles, & squeeks. It rattles alot when it's part of the way down to all the way down. It sounds like it's going to break! Or come completely loose!? When I roll it up, it squeeks!

Question

I have a similar problem with the rear driver-side window of my 03' convertable.(window will not go down or react to trying to make it go up).It worked just fine when I got the car last Nov. but now it's all the sudden non-responsive. All of the other 3 switches do work fine. I wonder if water and dust can fall into the switches causing a problem there. I also wonder if the relay can burn out only part-way(sounds a little crazy, I know).I really hope the motor is still good because I assume this is a daunting task to replace, and costly.
