Default Yet another question about gears...

Before you dismiss this as a question as one that has been asked a million times, it is kinda specific, hehe.
My next mod is going to be gears, 3:73s or 4:10s. The only problem keeping me from the 4:10s is that I make a 200 mile trip every 2 weeks or so. Is having the 4:10s going to make me pay for an extra half of tank of gas each way, or what? I'm thinking the 3:73s will be better for me, but just wanted some of your opinions. It's a lightly modified 98 gt auto daily driver.
Thanks!

I think you answered your own question. So I would help you to decide to go with the 3:73's for all around driving fun. Right?

I agree for someone who does a lot of freeway driving then I'd suggest the 3.73 gears.

I have 4.10's and at about 75mph I pull around 3000 RPM's. It's a pretty major difference than stock. But I started out with 3.73's, and with an auto was kinda disappointed with the improvement. I changed to 4.10's about a year later. Honestly it didn't make a huge difference in my gas mileage, but when I added my stall I can watch my gauge move. Completely stock I got around 23mpg on the highway at 70mph cruising. With my 4.10's it dropped to around 20mpg. That's not a bad trade off for the performance increase. But I'm pretty tolerant. My car never goes on trips anymore though. I put about 6k miles a year on my car now. I still drive it every day, just not to economical for road trips.

you will still pay the same for gas, however you will burn a little more gas and have to buy more gas with the 4.10's......but the cost per gallon will be the same...... (sorry, smart donkey mode just turned on by itself )
