Default Cheap race fuel! What do yall think??

Yea so a co-worker told me he put "xylene" in his srt-4 and showed me the dyno. 28 HP, 32 torque increase... It's a paint thinner that increases the octane in fuel.

Here's a site, but he uses a different version.

So what do yall think?

it costs 15 dollars per gallon, and you need to use a lot. I prefer octain boosters that are less harmful to sensitive parts, IE injector o2 sensors converters, and so on.

fuel itself won't make your car go faster, you'd need to add more timing

Retail octane boosters are 90 toulene and 10 isopropyl. Check the MSDS. Xylene will eat rubber but it works. I live in the Great NorthWet. Methanol in the summer and Toluene the other 48 weeks. We have garbage gas (thank You Maria Cantwell) so any aromatic hydrocarbon is a must. Acetone is great to keep intakes and exhausts (catalytic converters) clean. If you buy it by the drum...

I use octane boost for my 93 octane tune. I don't trust my local pumps in the least bit. I've put 93 in it while operating under my economy tune (retarded timing for 87 octane) and the thing had an extreme loss of power. I had to drain the gas tank and fill it up at another station. Needless to say, don't trust the octane number, haha. If you read the back of the bottles of octane boost, it only claims a 10 point increase, which I believe, would set your octane rating from 93-94. At around $5 a bottle it doesn't really seem worth it to me! You'd need say, 8 bottles of octane booster to get your tank anywhere near racing gas. When I run my racing fuel tune I go with the real deal, which last time I checked, was $6 a gallon on the Berlin Turnpike in CT.

Use Pure alcohol. It has an octane rating of 109.
