Default 03 Cobra (speed limiter)

I wondered if any of you know how an electronic speed governer works? All data I've seen on the 03 Cobra says it is electroniccaly governed to 155 mph. I can tell you that I gave my new Cobra a go and went past 160 mph indicated before I chickened out and got off the gas. Just curious if it really is governed and how it works. Maybe it does have this and the speedometer is not that accurate. I don't know much about working on cars but just love driving them and thought maybe one of you could shed some light on this subject for us non-techies.

Im not sure on that particular one, but many limiters on cars are in the factory computer... it shuts off fuel or spark at a certain speed. Some are a little different but that is usually why you can bypass it with a program chip.
Just for my records... where can you get it up to 160 around there? do you have a route 66 clone or do you use the interstate or something?
