Default 65 mustang want to put a 351 w in it

I have a 65 stang coupe and want to put a 351 w in it what things will i need to change to allow for the engine to fit will it just drop in or are there modifications to be made any help would be greatly appreciated

It is a direct swap except for one detail, you need 351W headers, Headman sells them.

Another detail is hood clearance, but only if you use a high-rise intake manifold.

Trans bolt pattern and mounts are exactly the same as the 298.

thanks for the information will get right on that 1 more question what would have to be done to put a 4-5 speed transmission in this car have been told many many things dont know what to do

Check out Mustang Monthly And Mustang and Fords magazines they're always running articles about tranny swaps. There is also a back issue service. Check out their web sites also. www.mustangmonthly.com and www.mustangandfords.com.----Chuck

4 speed or 5spd? Big difference in what it takes! What's in there now?

The mustang mags are nothing but a great big shiny advertisement for whoever's stuff they're pushing at the time. They WILL steer you wrong.

it has a c-4 automatic but want to put a 5-6 speed in this car was going to go woth a 4 speed but highway milage would be horrible would like the extra gears for a little better gas milage
