Question Mobil 1...Is it really a Full Synthetic Motor Oil?

Been reading on other .net's and blogs that Mobil 1 Engine Oil is now a Class 3 lubricant. Story goes now that Castrol has withdrawn from the USA, Exxon/Mobil is KingKong. People are saying "it's mineral oil", not a full synthetic. If it's good enuff for K-Y, it's good enuff fer me. Have noticed retail prices have come down. Petrolatum is a low-cost product from crude. I checked the Exxon/Mobil and Mobil 1 websites for MSDS's and I find Data Sheets from 2001. Before I bug the CSK parts jockeys for the telephone number of the distributor, has anyone heard anything?

I'm no expert, but the research I've done on the internet and talking to others suggest the very best synthetic available these days is AMSOIL...google that name for more info....and no I'm not a dealer. I currently run Mobile1 in my 2006 V6, but I already have a case of AMSOIL for the next change. Perhaps others here can give you better first hand experience reports.

Well its been awhile since I researched synthetic oils. That was about a year ago and since then I have been using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic in all of my Mustangs, with either a Mobil 1 oil filter or Ford OEM oil filter. At the time, Mobil 1 ranked at the top as the best all round and I have been buying it ever since. No complaints here but its possible my research is now out of date.

You will long tire of your engine or mustang before Mobil 1 synthetic causes a failure.

I run Amsoil and their filter/cooler in my MustanGT. Am using Mobil 1 whatever it is today 50/50 in my Focus. The CrownVic won't require its first oil change for awhile...so I was wondering Amsoil or Mobil 1 100% in it???
