Arrow What do I need to use!?

I am trying to fill in the UGLY "MUSTANG GT" script that is formed into the factory urethane on the side skirts and rear bumper cover on a FOX GT.
What do I use that will stay? I was going to plastic weld but need a more convenient method.
Please help.
Martin

depends on how drastic you want to go.... you could use a bondo type material..but taht would call for a re-paint.

believe me, the car needs paint anyway. I'm right in the middle of a build up on a 89 LX convertible.
I'm not confident that the Bondo will stay put for the long term. I'd hate to go through all the trouble just to have it crack out after a grand in paint.

I whould'nt trust chevy in a can either, only meant for about a 16th"
top coat. I'd call a body shop and see if they know of a flexable bumper
filler.

ok, here is the problem, you are going to need to use the same type of urethane that the part is made of, and it expands and contracts, so it will crack on you.

Yeah, all of us are made of money too. I like the GT look, except the script. Thanks for the advise, I think a new body kit would do well filling in the ugly script on my car

id prob go with bondo...what would hapen if you melted plastic like oil container plastic into it. youd have to heat the back side of the bumper first so thats is semi pliable then poor the melted plast in.
i doubt it would work but its a curious idea.

neoboogyman,
We have a product here called "Plastic Weld". I'm sure it's made in the US.... You use a gas/kero burner to heat the sticks of plastic into a paste, then apply to the cleaned area.(Remove all paint and rough up with course sand paper) It sets hard in about 12 minutes. Then you just sand it back. It is flexible, and very strong. Remember to heat it up well, or you will get bubbles.

If you can't find it, go to a Motor Bike shop. They use it to repair broken plastic parts on bikes. (I'm always fixing mine It's the BEST stuff )

See Adam, that name is just too technical for Aussies. Personally it would scare a consumer like myself....

The product I have used does not crack but it will flex. I can't say whether it will swell. It is also UV safe
