Exclamation Help! Roaring sound from my 2002 Mustang at 45mph and 2rpms?

I have a 2002 Mustang. New to me, I am not sure if the sound is normal. When accelerating at 45-50mph with the rpms at 2, I hear a rumble or a roar before it changes gears. Any feedback? Thanx

I believe that is just the back pressure neutralizing in the exhaust system, mine does the same and so does my friends 01 GT. I kinda like the sound with flowmasters. Congrats on your 02, I think you will love it.

Yep mine does the same too, and you're right with flowmasters it sounds awesome, the flows are the loudest right at 2000rpms above and below its quieter lol

It may resonate at a given pressure. Different gears and different accelerations may account for the resonance only occuring at a certain rpm rate in a certain gear. Resonance is when waves reinforce themselves through interference.

Is there any mechanical "feel" to it?

Are the exhaust tips exiting the vehicle?

I had turn downs, pre-axle, and they were LOUD AS HELL especially @ 2000RPM range.

It was kewl for the first couple of weeks, but anooyed the hell out of me shortly. I had to stay below 45 or over 55.

If you have pre axle turn downs, it has a lot to do with the rumble you hear. The sound is normal, but AMPLIFIED with the turn downs.

BTW, i got the pipes extended out the back, still sounds good and doesn't annoy the hell out of me or my passengers.
