I am looking to throw on a 8.8 rear end on my 02 v6 and as some of you know I have some big plans for it. The question is two fold, First of all can you buy a 8.8 from Ford racing without the gears? If I got a 8.8 I want 3.90's and I know they come with 3.75's. Second is when I have the new rear end will it fit onto my car or do I need to cut, slice, trim? Also will it fit onto the stock shaft and axle or will they too need to be swaped?

ok, im gonna be the punching bag for this one.. .my understanding, the v6 and v8 cars are the same.. different suspension and engines... i know. 8.8 swaps are feasible... so it should just bolt up in place.. as far as just the shell, ill have to look into that.. i havent heard of one that came with 3.75's tho.. probably more like a 3.08. I will look tho.. until then, hopefully someone helps me out..

The '02 comes with 3.27 gears. The 8.8 should just bolt in just fine. I'm not sure if the driveshaft would need modification at all. Maybe someone else knows this or I will compare the v6 and the v8 since a friend has the v6. Let me know.
