Default new heads on high mile engine

I'm looking for some opinions on installing after market or ported stock heads on my 205k mile engine. It's a '89 with cobra intake, cold air, pulleys, headers, o/r x-pipe, cat back, 3:55's, 65 mm t/b, 14 degrees timing and 73 mm MAF. It's been well taken care of (I'm the original owner) and does not burn oil. I realize this thing needs a rebuild with that many miles but with a shortage of cash I'm looking for something in the short term to add some power.

I've seen advertisements for "power heads" and thumper performance heads. They advertise their ported stock heads for $600-$700. Anyone know anything about these companies?

Thanks.

205K? save up for a new engine and get the heads then, your engine should last another 50-100K without problems, but putting new heads will pull oil past the rings

Exactly! I have a '94 that with 120,000 and added a set of GT-40P heads when I blew my head gasket. I used a little bit of oil before but after the heads it really pulls that oil through. But hey... thats ok because I'm dropping a 347 in this spring!

Don't waste your time. Rebuild the engine and put a set of killer aluminum heads on like Trick Flows or my favorite,AFR's. You'll appreciate it alot more on a fresh motor. It's not worth it on a tired one. Good luck!
