Replacing 97 enigine I'm bummed. My 97 v6 died at the garage. It was overheating with no cabin heat, then the check engine light came on. I drove it to the garage, and that was the last time it ran. Mechanic said the engine seized (hydrostatic lock - not because lack of oil). Have to replace the engine.
My question is if there is a way to identify what year, or car for that matter, my replacement engine came from.
The garage tells me the engines he gets are "low time", 35,000 mi. or under with a 1 year warranty. (from accidents, etc.)
New engine w/labor quoted $2,500.
I feel as if I had no choice but to give the go-ahead and trust him. Without an engine its just a huge paper weight.
Feel free to let me know what you would have done. |
