Need help with beeping noise in my dashboard somewhere.
It just started today. With key on, there is a beeping noise coming from the center of the dash. It beeps 5 times, then is quiet for a couple seconds, and starts beeping again. It's not a warning tone like door open or something. Anyone have any ideas before i start taking the dash apart? Thanx for any input.

Radio maybe? If it isnt stock like mine it has a little alarm thing or something that beeps, but my only does it after I shut it off, maybe its getting power and losing it? Probably not it, just throwing ideas out there.
Funny you should say that. I thought it might be coming from the radio. It's not a stock radio, and i lost power to it right before i parked it for winter. this is my first time in it since then. However the radio never actually came on today. Anyway, thanx, i think i'll start there.

Trying to zero in on a sound cum'n from under the dash, or nearly anywhere up front can be difficult at times. What I've done in the past to help me locate a squeak or rattle (beep in your case) is to put one end of a length of rubber hose in one ear, plug the other and point the open end of the rubber hose in (what you think) is the general direction of the sound. AS you move the open end of the hose around, it acts a bit like a stethoscope. THe sound gets noticebly louder the closer you get.
Old time mechanics have used this trick for decades.
That's all she wrote........

Reason: typo
if it beeps, 5 beeps 5 times then stops that means that you air bag lamp is burned out, has that light been on for a long time? if so see if the air bag lamp proves out, buy coming on for about 5sec. then goes out if not ,bulb burned out and that the air bag diag. monitor giving you a warning, replace bulb, should be a 194 bulb, let me know, thanks, larry g
AHHHH, thanx Larry. I have never actually seen the light on while driving. I assume it's on, with key on. Won't be able to check it out for a couple days. I think at this point it's a faulty connection somewhere, but had no idea about the airbag. I drove it last nite, and it didn't beep at all. Anyway, thanks again, at least I have some direction now.

ive seen this for the first time a long time ago on a ford tempo, took me forever to figure this out, the second time, years later it didnt take so long for my light bulb in my head to turn on, at work, i work at a dealership, ford, 2 weeks ago another tech at work tried for 2 hrs to find out what the beeping was, i asked him about if it did 5 sets of 5 beeps, he counted them, yep,i said dose the air bag lamp prove out, no , i said replace it, he never felt so dumb, yes it is in the shop manual but............... you need to go the the air bag section under system complaints, most people miss this part, the more people spend on this problem the more it makes me feel good to help them out, freebe, i bet ajreed69 has a bulb with a filiment broken and making and breaking contact intermitant, soo any one have a good deal on a pcm harness for a 92-93 5.0 ? i have a 89 complete 89 doner 5.0 for my conversion, but didnt want to pull dash or modify harness if nessary, thanks, big G
Aha, so my faulty connection is probably the filament in the bulb........ makes sense after you explain it like you did. Todays post is on St. Patty's day, wish I could buy you a beverage today........Hope a big thanx works instead...........

it wont go off at the wrong time, it takes a crash sensor and the safeing sensor activated simotaniously which is very rare except in a crash , if one comes on and stays on too long, like someone jumping wires on a crash sensor the air bag monitor will blow its internal fuse disabling the system and the monitor will need replaced
