Default 2001 theft light help.

I am about to buy a 2001 stang with 57000 mile for 4k, It would not start and the tow company thinks it has something to do with theft light. It keeps coming on and will not start. What can cause that and how do I get rid of it? We have the original key, but not the wireless remote key. The battery died cause it sat for 30 days. When they replaced it, that started to happen?

I've got a 2000 Stang and the theft light always flashes when the key isn't in it.

Does it go out when you turn the key to on?

Check out the wiring under the dash I had 3 wires break from under the steering column. Also mine acted up until I replaced the multi switch that controls the blinkers and hazard lights. The theft light wanted to blink fast unless my steering column was tilted at the right angle. Also if your wipers act like they are possessed going off for no reason u need to replace the multi switch also, it is like 75$.

It happens only when you try to start it. It acts like it wants to turn over, but does not. The guy from the tow company told me he drove in to the shop and it ran perfect? Not to sure what he meant by calibrating the key?
