Default my 1984 mustang is not charging and replaced alternator and regulator

I have replaced the alternator, regulator, checked all fusable links and fuses. I am reading 12.3 volts and when I disconnect the battery while running the car dies. Which means the alternator isn't working.
Please help me with my delima. I have one wire that is black w/a light colred stripe that goes to the battery hook up(large stud) and another that curves around the post that has a white plastic piece around (smaller stud). There is another stud that has a black piece around it but I don't have a wire for that one.
The green wire at the regulator that should be reading 13-14 is reading the same as the alternator and battery.
I don't know what to do.
The wiring diagam showed me what fuseable links to check and they all checked out.
I took the alternator and had it checked. It is good
help me please.

First off, don't disconnect your battery while the car is running, that forces your regulator to max voltage, which in turn can and will most likely fry the alternator and/or regulator. Where did you buy the alternator and regulator? And when you take your voltage reading, are you doing it while the car is running(dumb ? I know)?

Default please help charging not working

yes i am checking it with the car running.
i only pull it off long enough to see if the problem is corrected.
if the charging system is working properly then actually the car only uses the battery for reserve power and to start, when a car is running it runs all functions from the alternator not the battery.
do you have and suggestions?
